Dear customers,
On February 14, Microsoft released Windows Update KB5022842 for Server 2022. We would like to inform you that Windows Server 2022 VMs with Secure Boot will not be able to boot after installing this update. You can find a corresponding information about this at https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/90947.
As a temporary solution, it is only possible to disable Secure Boot. Subsequent uninstallation of the update still does not enable Secure Boot for the VM. VMs without Secure Boot are not affected.
For our customers with the management levels "Operations Management" and "Service Management" we have blocked the Microsoft patch on WSUS so that it cannot be installed. For our customers with "Infrastructure Management" we explicitly warn them not to install the Microsoft patch.
Please note that vSphere 6.7 and 7.x are affected. Currently only vSphere 8 is compatible with the mentioned update.

am 14. Februar hat Microsoft das Windows Update KB5022842 für Server 2022 veröffentlicht. Wir möchten Sie darauf hinweisen, dass Windows Server 2022 VMs mit Secure Boot nach der Installation dieses Updates nicht mehr booten können. Eine entsprechende Information dazu finden Sie unter https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/90947.
Als vorübergehende Lösung ist es nur möglich, Secure Boot zu deaktivieren. Eine nachträgliche Deinstallation des Updates ermöglicht der VM trotzdem nicht den Secure Boot. VMs ohne Secure Boot sind nicht betroffen.
Für unsere Kunden mit den Mangement-Level „Operations-Management“ und „Service-Management“ haben wir den Microsoft Patch auf dem WSUS geblockt, so dass dieser nicht installiert werden kann. Unseren Kunden mit „Infrastructure-Management“ warnen wir ausdrücklich davor, den Microsoft-Patch zu installieren.
Bitte beachten Sie, dass vSphere 6.7 und 7.x betroffen sind. Derzeit ist nur vSphere 8 mit dem genannten Update kompatibel.
